BIO

Leah Wolff (MFA, Columbia 2011) was born 1984 in Cleveland, Ohio. In 2006, she moved to New York City after graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design. At RISD, she was the sole recipient of the Ripley F. W. Albright Award and earned her BFA in Printmaking with honors. Since that time she has co-curated two shows in New York, and has been an artist in resident the Vermont Studio Center. Her work has been featured in two solo shows and many group exhibitions internationally and throughout the U.S.

Wolff views her practice as a way to better understand the workings of our physical environment. The artist translates her research into forms built from ceramics and paper-mâché. Their slumped postures are in direct contrast with the precision and symmetry in a scientific model. This difference references her own intellectual thresholds when confronting concepts dealing with the infinite.
